October 3, 2005 – Washington, NJ – Citizens of all faiths gathered to pray for sanctity of life on Sunday, October 2, 2005 on Worldwide Fatima Sanctity of Life Day in locations around the world and 100 million prayers were sent to heaven.
The World Apostolate of Fatima / Blue Army has, for the past year, been organizing Worldwide Fatima Sanctity of Life Day. People of all faiths rallied from around the world to confront the evils of war, abortion, terrorism, genocide, child slavery, assisted suicide, and other situations with prayer. The culmination of all the planning took place yesterday at the Blue Army Shrine in Washington NJ as well as many other World Apostolate of Fatima / Blue Army sponsored events at locations around the USA and in over 40 countries throughout the world.
Millions of people from around the world joined together in prayer. “It was indeed a glorious day” said Michael La Corte, Executive Director of the organization. “Hard work coupled with the power of prayer will lead to the ultimate triumph – peace on earth! It is encouraging to know that our heavenly Father listens and responds to our needs. So, for twenty minutes yesterday we asked people from around the world to raise their hearts to heaven in humility, and ask for help from above,” La Corte continued.
Four thousand people were on hand to listen to renowned speakers including Bishop Bootkoski of Metuchen, NJ, Fr. Andrew Apostoli, well known from EWTN and pro-life champion and former presidential candidate Dr. Alan Keyes. After the uplifting speeches, Christian Artist Tony Melendez had everyone on their feet and singing. Bishop Bootkoski also blessed the Sanctity of Life statue “Mary, Mother of the Life Within.”
